Raleigh Maverick 15
The Raleigh Maverick was the first Raleigh Mountainbike in 1986, and the first widely available mtb in the UK. There was the Maverick 5 with 5 gears and dreadful sidepull brakes, the 15 with a triple chainset and cantilevers, and the 18 with a 531 frame and six sprockets at the back. All were by modern standards terrible. Neil had a 15 like this one as the first bike he bought with his own money. "I used it to commute about Glasgow, and do some offroad. The gear levers made my fingers sore and everything broke. It's how I learned to fix bikes. After a year I traded it in for some new wheels for my Muddy Fox Courior."
This one is very original. The rear mech has been changed and it has period mudguards, rack and dynamo added. the bars are also different, it came with very wide bars, almost as wide as the sort trendy in 2023.
