The importance of contrast
When painting and assembling a bike careful use of contrast is important.
Too many colours will look a mess, but a main colour, contrast colour and component colour works well. By components I mean the stem, headset, mudguards and so on. Components mostly come in silver or black.
The picture on the left shows how not to do it.
This West of Scotland man asked for a black headset fitted to his black frame.
I suggested that a silver headset would show up the black more, but he disagreed.

Did it make the bike more black? Debateable.
Did he like it? NO!
Was it removed immediately after this picture was taken? Yes.
