Converted Mountain Bikes
It is possible to fit larger wheels to some mountain bikes. Instead of the 26 x 1.75 inch (559mm) wheels you can fit real 26x 1 3/8 (590mm) or 700c (622mm) wheels.
This is never the perfect answer, it's always better to use a frame made for the size of wheels, but it can work, particularly for making bikes for the very small or tall.
The frame brake bosses will be in the wrong place, so caliper brakes are used instead. This is seldom a problem at the front, but at the back the seatstay bridge needs to have the hole drilled the right way.
