Bealach na ba
Also known as the pass of the cattle, this is the road to Applecross on the west coast of Scotland. It rises to just over 2000 feet from sea level in 5 miles, or 626m in 8 km. It's steep.
It's one of the famous cycling climbs of the UK.
I wouldn't do it again with panniers full of camping gear on the bike. If you are on tour and want to do it, leave your tent and stuff at one of the campsites in Sheildaig or Lochcarron and do it with a light bike. The new road north from Applecross round the coast is even more senic and less of a continuous slog.
